Simple process · Researched surname history · Digital PDF · 3 hours, weekends too

How it works

Herald Lab turns a last name into a commemorative Surname History PDF: researched origin narrative, honest arms association when sources allow, and a printable digital file. Clear steps — your PDF by email within hours, optional physical products shipped to your door, no mystery crest factory.

1. Choose your document

• Standard — Surname History PDF ($49) — one landscape page: last-name origin + arms associated with the surname. Best everyday order.
• Dual ($149) — two surnames, two associated coats of arms, a 2-page PDF (page 1: united arms; page 2: both surname histories). Built for weddings and anniversaries. Optional wedding year → EST.
• Executive Digital Pack ($99) — portrait frame page + extended multi-source surname-history essay.

2. Enter what we need on the product page

• Last name (required) — the surname to research.
• Last Name 1 & Last Name 2 — required for Dual.
• Wedding / anniversary year (optional, Dual only) — prints as EST. 2010 if provided.
• Country or region (optional) — helps when sources list several branches.
• PDF language — English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Romanian, or Swedish.

That is all. A shipping address is asked only if you add a physical product. No “select your crest from a dropdown.”

3. We research the surname

Executive and Dual orders go deeper, with multi-source research and sources cited. All cover:

• Origin and meaning of the surname where attested.
• Spelling variants and geographic notes.
• Coats of arms historically recorded for families of the name, or arms commonly associated with the surname.

If arms cannot be documented, we say so — and may supply a labeled decorative reconstruction when the pack includes artwork.

4. We build the PDF

• Surname identification and variants
• Origin / history narrative
• Heraldic section with honest wording
• Parchment-style layout for 8.5×11 / A4 print

5. Delivery — your PDF in your inbox within 3 hours, weekends too

You receive the PDF by email and/or Shopify download — within 3 hours of a paid custom order, often sooner, weekends too. Physical products you add are made to order and are usually dispatched within 5 business days (with tracking where the carrier provides it; delivery time depends on your country). Check your junk/spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox.

See our Delivery & Shipping policy.

6. If the name cannot be researched

We refund 100% of the purchase price. Email orders@heraldlab.com with your order number. Full details: refund policy.
